Shrek The Musical Inglewood reviews
What Makes Us Special, Makes Us Strong! Fantastic!
Shrek the Musical is great! The plot is of Shrek, an ogre, who has a bunch of fairytale creatures dumped on his swamp and goes to face Lord Farquaad, the ruler of Duloc, to get his land back. Lord Farquaad agrees to give Shrek his swamp back if he can rescue Princess Fiona, and sets off on a journey with Donkey to get it done but will he succeed on his quest and survive the many high jinks, struggles, and lessons that he’ll face? The sets in this show were so detailed and I was surprised by how many of them there were. The costumes were incredible and looked just like they did from the movie. The singing was amazing because it was so powerful and meaningful. The actors perfectly captured and expressed the humor, emotions, hopes, and fears of their characters. The music was very memorable and fun to listen to. The choreography in this show was very exaggerated, which only enhanced the mood and style of the show. This is one of the funniest musicals I have seen, especially the 4th wall break jokes. Even though there’s humor in this show, it still conveys the themes of love, friendship, acceptance, and understanding of those that are different. If you’re a fan of the 2001 DreamWorks film, then you’ll love this show. Just know that it’s not an exact adaptation, so there’s new stuff that is unique to the show. I strongly recommend seeing this show!
